This book picks up where Fashionably Dead left off. Astrid is in Hell, dragged there by Demons who say she is their Queen. She awakes in an all black bedroom with talking walls and a sound track by Journey ... with Steve Perry. It seems Journey is Satan's favorite band of all time. That alone had me laughing.
And from page one, the Journey digs (and I find myself humming Open Arms - thanks Robyn!), bespoke fashion mentions, Baby Demons (so cute!), plus Astrid's "down under" crazy family including the Seven Sins (cousins), Uncle Satan and Uncle God, and Grandma "call her GiGi" Mother Nature aka Gaia kept me turning pages to see what the insanely talented Robyn Peterman came up with next. Astrid's hunky Vampyre mate is down under for the ride after a slight twist and a turn and a rescue by Astrid. So the sex is hot and not just because they're in Hell -- which really isn't hot on the main level. Oh, by the way, Dante got the levels all wrong in his opus Inferno.
The story reads fast with laughs on every page, and the ending is satisfying. Now I'll leave you with two words pole dancing. You have to read the book to find out who and where. You won't be sorry you did.
We welcome back Astrid & Ethan in the 2nd installment of the Hot Damned Series. It picks up right where the last one left off. You learn all about Astrid's family tree. And you can't help but laugh out loud with each page turned. You root for her while she bonds with Uncle Satan, giggle when Mister Rogers shows up for Hell's weekly poker game, and watch mortified as Mother Nature took her advice to learn pole dancing. This is just the tip of the iceberg with this book and Robyn has a winning series on her hands! Can't wait for Hell on Heels.
I would love to review this book, unfortunately, the hysterical Ms. Peterman has once more rendered me breathless with laughter. Still, I would struggle through and delightedly leave it the five star, raving review it deserves, had I not been forced to remove points for the role it played in the loss of my tablet.
In a heartless, tragic move, my husband confiscated my tablet and refuses to allow me to have possession of it after the hour of 8p.m. (Yes, he is an old goat who goes to bed really early. - In interest of full disclosure, he is not an actual goat.) He made it rather clear, after Ms. Peterman's first book in this series, Fashionably Dead, that I was not to read any more books in this series while he was trying to sleep. (To show his complete unreasonableness, he also stated I absolutely could not have any demon babies of my very own. I do not understand this man, or his need to destroy my dreams and goals!)
Anyway, being the blatant rebel that I am (and absolutely no good at self control, pleasure postponement, or able to put down a fabulous book) I ignored all threats and proceeded to not only start Fashionably Dead Down Under right before bed, but then stay up all night reading it. Well, it was self preservation, I promise. I would have DIED if I had not been able to finish it right then - I am quite sure of it! Still, I feel reasonably sure I could have gotten away with the soft glow of the tablet screen, illuminating the room until all hours of the morning. Yes, upon reflection, I believe it was the snorts, snickers, and coughing fits from trying to hold in the guffaws that did me in and cost me my tablet. So, would I recommend this book? You betcha! Would I recommend reading it at night, while laying next to an old grouch who is trying to sleep? In a heartbeat! It is just that good!!!
I absolutely LOVE Robyn's writing! I catch myself laughing throughout her her books. Down Under is a perfect sequel to Fashionably Dead. I love the intertwining of stories and all the snark that goes along with it. If you are looking for a funny interesting pee in your pants love story then this book series and writer are for you!
Snarky, sassy, silly, sexy.......SUPER! Robyn Peterman delivers again with her unique style and delightful combination of raw sensuality and ribald humor. The 'underworld' has never been sexier....or funnier. This is an entertaining escape. Go for it. It is a jaunt worth taking.
Astrid and Ethan are back in the saddle again with this stunningly witty second book. The banter will leave you laughing out loud. New characters to fall in love with. Bring on the third installment!!!
I am over the top addicted to Robyn's writing!!!!!! This book was so amazing, I could not put it down, even if I wanted to! This book had me hooked within the first couple of pages, and no one will be disappointed!!!
